The Courtyard
The Courtyard is where the conversations happen.
It began inside the world of The Radio and Records Café, the fiction project I am building now. Over time, it became more than a setting.
It became the emotional center of the work.
In the Story World
There is a stage.
Live music.
Tables where conversations unfold.
People arriving with things they do not always say out loud.
Stories moving through corners.
Moments that look ordinary until something shifts.
Outside the fiction, The Courtyard has become the place where the larger body of my work belongs.
Many doors. Same Courtyard.
The Fiction Universe
Work in Progress
The Radio and Records Café is my long-term fiction project and passion work.
It is rooted in radio culture, music, memory, relationships, reinvention, and the emotional lives of people whose stories keep finding their way back to one shared place.
The Courtyard is one of the first pieces of that world I am ready to share because it carries the feeling of the entire project.
The Radio and Records Café is not just a café.
It is a story world built around sound, conversation, memory, community, creativity, and the unexpected ways people find themselves through each other.
It is where music plays, stories unfold, and people discover that the life they planned is not always the life that changes them.
The Trilogy
The Radio and Records Café is planned as a trilogy.
The story world unfolds across multiple books, perspectives, timelines, and emotional arcs.
At the heart of the trilogy are music, radio, memory, identity, grief, reinvention, love, creative ambition, belonging, second chances, and the stories people carry before they know how to tell them.
The Courtyard serves as a recurring emotional and physical anchor in that world.
Part setting.
Part gathering place.
Part witness.
The trilogy is still being written.
The world is forming in scenes, characters, music, memory, and early morning pages. I am building it one conversation, one setting, one emotional thread at a time.
The Courtyard is the first place I am inviting readers to enter.
Why This Project Matters
This project brings together many of the threads that have shaped my life and work:
The Radio and Records Café is deeply connected to my identity as a writer and second-generation broadcaster.
It is also connected to the larger emotional work of The Courtyard: making room for stories, conversations, and the parts of people that are still unfinished.
This is not a side project.
It is one of the creative centers of the ecosystem.
Music, Memory, and Radio
Music has a way of finding the part of us that conversation has not reached yet.
That is part of what lives inside The Radio and Records Café.
Songs carry memory.
Voices become familiar.
Radio becomes companionship.
A stage becomes a place where someone says what they could not say anywhere else.
A conversation at the right table can change the direction of a life.
That is the world I am building. A place where sound, story, memory, and human connection still matter.
How It All Connects
The Courtyard is the place where the fiction world and the larger body of my work meet.
In the fiction, the themes appear through characters, settings, relationships, conflict, music, and story.
In the leadership and personal growth work, those themes appear through reflection, frameworks, tools, speaking, and conversation.
The form changes.
The emotional center remains the same.
That is why The Courtyard belongs here. It helps make sense of the books, Substack, radio conversations, Licensed2BBadass, leadership work, and fiction universe without forcing them into separate boxes.
Different doors.
Same Courtyard.

If You’re New to My Fiction
If you are new to my fiction, Dead Air: The Day the Music Died is available now.
It is a different story world, but it shares my love of radio, tension, human behavior, and the emotional pressure people carry when everything around them begins to break.
While The Radio and Records Café is still being written, Dead Air is a good place to begin.
Follow the Work as It Unfolds
If you enjoy watching a story world take shape from the inside, this is where I will share pieces of the process.
Not everything.
Not the parts that need to stay quiet until the book is ready.
But enough to let you hear the music, meet the atmosphere, and understand why this world matters so much to me.
You can follow the writing journey through The Courtyard on Substack, YouTube, email updates, and behind-the-scenes notes as the trilogy develops.

Start with Heart Lessons
If you want a deeper introduction to the emotional thread behind my work, start with Heart Lessons.
It is a free book about resilience, surrender, grief, healing, faith, and the lessons life teaches when we are forced to slow down and listen.
Download Heart Lessons and join The Courtyard for weekly notes on story, broadcasting, creativity, emotional growth, life on the road, Kismet, and conversations worth continuing.
So is The Radio and Records Café.
So are most of us, if we are telling the truth.
That is part of why this place matters to me. It is a place for stories still forming, conversations still unfolding, music still playing somewhere nearby, and people still learning who they are becoming.
You are welcome to stay close as the world grows.
Many doors.
Same Courtyard.
